Alive Even Though A Part of Me Has Died
Anyone who has come through grief and tragedy out onto the other side can surely say a part of them has died. I know that a part of my heart died in my grief and pain.
If you are struggling in the deep, dark place called grief and pain, let me comfort you with the thought that all is not lost. There is still a spark in there somewhere. As in my previous post, When your pain turns to anguish and despair, there is hope. I know you may not feel like it or believe it right now, but I was listening to the song by Mercy Me whose song has the title of this article in the chorus.
Even though you may feel dead inside and think that you’ll never make it through, as the song says, let God breathe a spark of life back into your soul. You have to seek Him for it though. Ask Him to help you breathe again. Take a deep breath. Now ask Him to take your pain, put His balm on your soul, and comfort you as only He can. Now close your eyes and picture yourself in the very palm of His hand. Ask Him to breathe a spark of hope and life back into your very being. Do you feel it? It will start out as just a spark and you may have to fan it, but soon you will feel it warming your heart. That spark will grow and you will start feeling the littlest inkling of being alive again. You will find yourself smiling from time to time.
I encourage you to not lose hope in your time of despair. That little part of your heart that has been torn and bleeding will slowly heal and become scarred. Just like a scar on your body, don’t pick at it! Let it heal. Let God be your Comforter and His balm will soothe your aching heart. It is a healing balm.
You are strong enough to make it through this. I know you are. The reason I know is because God knew it was going to happen way before it ever took place. He was preparing you in ways you do not know. He knew you could handle it or He wouldn’t have let it come your way. He believes in you and I do too.
I found myself in tears reading this. You have a gift of touching the soul. The Lord is using you to reach out to those in need. I can see it in your writing, it’s a place where one can come and feel safe, let their guard down and just “be.” I’m going to bookmark your website to share with others. God bless you, no matter what you’ve been through, He has given you strength in your weakness and turned it into a gift to reach out to others in need.
He can turn a test into a testimony;
a mess, into a message;
a trial, into a triumph;
a victim, into a victor.
God is good, all the time.
